[edit]That's a really unflattering image of him on his page. Couldn't we use something less intimidating? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.180.147.143 (talk) 13:18, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes, the lighting in the picture is terrible. The man deserves a better shot regardless of his age. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wvbyrne (talk • contribs) 07:48, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well, as of now, we only have 2 shots to choose from. I personally think the 1994 shot is actually pretty decent (at least compared to most amateur shots Wikipedia is usually stuck with using on articles of living people). The 2005 shot is another story. Casual Wikipedia users should keep in mind, Wikipedia cannot simply search the internet for the "prettiest" picture of a subject and use it in an article of a living person. Images that can be used must be free of copyright claims (which is rare), so we're often left with amateur snap-shots of celebrities taken by passersby on the street, unless a professional photographer is kind enough to release the license for an image taken at a "red carpet" type of event (even more rare). Since we do have the 1994 image, I'd definitely be Ok with removing the 2005 image, but I know some editors would rather keep every picture in an article (no matter how bad), so I'm reluctant to take it upon myself to remove it. If anyone else has an opinion, please share. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 13:52, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
Gay?
[edit]I don't think Tim Curry has ever married. Does anyone know if he is gay? 74.216.121.78 (talk) 01:50, 20 October 2008 (UTC) - I really don't think he is. Just because he dressed as a drag queen on Rocky Horror doesn't mean he's gay. (And he's way too sexy). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.43.13.138 (talk) 16:13, 10 April 2009 (UTC) i agree on the part about him being way to sexy to be gay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.52.253.141 (talk) 19:59, 9 September 2009 (UTC) Too sexy to be gay? Christ, do you KNOW any gay people??? KDS4444Talk 22:14, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
KDS4444, By Mohammed!, can all religions be mocked here, or is it just Christianity? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.182.37.126 (talk) 06:27, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Aww, another hypersensitive fundamentalist Christian. I'm sure nobody meant to hurt your widdle fee fees with their political incorrectness. Mpaniello (talk) 02:26, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
I don't know if it's considered a reliable source, but author Armistead Maupin pretty much outed him in Larry Gross' book "Contested closets: the politics and ethics of outing." Here's the link to the part:
http://books.google.com/books?id=1Xk1-rOS-3wC&pg=PA203&dq=Tim+Curry+LArry+Gross#v=onepage&q=&f=false
However, since Mr. Curry hasn't addressed the issue, I don't think it should be on the main page. Circleof05ths (talk) 22:47, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Just because someone never got married, doesn't mean that they're gay. That seems like a really illogical thought. Dideroty (talk) 12:07, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
It should be more of interest if he is in a partnership or single. Gay or hetero is not of too much of importance nowadays, and marriage says absolutely nothing about sexual orientation or else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.88.121.82 (talk) 00:30, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
When I lived in NYC in the 1980s, I had a friend who told me that he had worked as a stagehand on the Broadway run of Rocky Horror, and as a result his cousin had met and married Mr Curry. However, the website timcurry.co.uk (a fan site I think) says that Mr Curry said in an interview that he was "almost married" once, implying that he has not ever actually been married. In the 2000s, I got the impression from a mutual acquaintance that Mr Curry was not married and was primarily dating men. 76.19.64.186 (talk) 05:20, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
Sounds like this is going to end up being another of those situations where some years after his death, someone who once acted with him will make some vague insinuation in an interview about him perhaps having been gay, and that'll be taken as gospel. Of course, he could well be gay (even though that's his business and he's clearly not interested in informing the press or public on the subject), but... like it's THAT abnormal simply to never have been married! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.69.56 (talk) 02:08, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
Audiobooks
[edit]I remember for a fact he did audiobooks for some of the lemony snicket works. Maybe someone should pencil it in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.168.108.211 (talk) 09:31, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
I agree. It's common knowledge among his fans that Tim Curry is a prolific reader and it's only natural for him to do audiobooks. He's done several audiobooks by various authors including Anne Rice and Martha Grimes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.193.119.98 (talk) 00:21, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
The Cruxshadows
[edit]Is this the same Tim Curry who was a former member of the Cruxshadows? If so, I can't understand why it is not mentioned in his musical carreer. Different guy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KMFDM10000 (talk • contribs) 16:34, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Personal Life
[edit]Again, IP 99.224.180.208, has added in the unverified girlfriend and again I have left a note on their talk page. Circleof05ths (talk) 17:45, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
I removed a line about a girlfriend. Unless a source can be cited to confirm the relationship then it should not be in there. Circleof05ths (talk) 16:21, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Update: Someone at the IP address 99.224.180.208 keeps adding the unverified girlfriend back in. I have sent a talk message to the IP asking the person to please cite the source before adding it back in. Unfortuantely, the comment was again added without a source. I removed the unverified portion. Hopefully, the person will have checked their talk section and cite a source before adding it back in.Circleof05ths (talk) 23:11, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Article rating
[edit]I am downgrading this article to start class from B class for one glaring reason: there is no prose section on his film/television career. This is a major lapse in coverage for this article and I am surprised no one has remedied it for such a well known actor.4meter4 (talk) 16:29, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with the downgrade. A full 2/3 of the article is merely a barely-organized list of credits. This is hardly B-class quality. 76.121.244.252 (talk) 14:33, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- Not anything even close to B-class. Sounds like a "fan" decided to upgrade the article as a way of showing their admiration for the subject (I've seen it happen), or else the article may have been heavily edited by IPs since the "B" rating and reflinks were mistakenly broken and/or removed (again, I've seen it happen). I'd have to dig through the edit history to see where this page was when it was rated "B", but the glaring lack of reliable sources for 70%-80% of the article doesn't even qualify it for a "C" rating. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 12:24, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- Ok. Just out of curiosity, I went through the article history and traced the origins of this "B" rating. It was bestowed over five years ago with this edit by Ganymead. Several months later, this rating was copied onto the Musical Theatre Wikiproject with this edit. To be fair, judging from the original assessors edit history, I was wrong about it simply being a "fan", since this editor appears to have been simply going down the line alphabetically and rating a whole series of bios that needed assessment at the time. However, going back through the edit history of the article itself, I see that this was the state the page was in when the "B" was bestowed. As can be seen, the article had not even one single reference when it was rated a "B", so I can only guess that the assessor was either fatigued and simply scanning articles briefly when making their assessments or else they were wholly unqualified to be making assessments in the first place (or both). Regardless, the article never should have been rated a "B" and, as of now, is quite a long way from receiving a valid one. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 13:10, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Is there anyway to contact him?
It sound's like him in Silent Hill: HD Collection.

Vandalism
[edit]Suddenly, the Tim Curry article has been vandalized with "Gojko Andrijašević." I am pretty confident that this is not Tim Curry's name and there are no sources to show that he changed his name...to this. Quite interesting. I have done my best to revert this vandalism by USER: 94.250.87.190. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lawfulreasoning (talk • contribs) 03:26, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
- Gojko Andrijašević is a Serbian sports commentator who appears to share a slight resemblance to Tim Curry. I can only assume this is some sort of practical joke. --Icegrommet (talk) 14:06, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
"The Worst Witch" has a cult following? Really?
[edit]It's safe to say that "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" has a cult following on the basis of people wearing costumes and bringing props to audience-participation screenings of the film for 30+ years and counting, so I added that. However, I'm not aware that "the made-for-TV movie The Worst Witch (1986)" (or Curry's role as the Grand Wizard in it) has "spawned" any kind of cult following, whatsoever. Unless there's some basis for defending that statement, I'd like to remove the reference to "The Worst Witch" or Curry's role in it having spawned a cult following. There has to be some basis for it. Salon Essahj (talk) 22:58, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
His comments about Rocky Horror being a 'rite of passage' are ridiculous, unless you were raised in great dysfunction where you think pelting people with food during a movie scene is 'fun' (it's abusive to the self) and that extreme crudeness is okay. Most would agree telling people to 'discover their sexuality' through a film- and experimenting with sex- is equally ridiculous- said by actress Miss X, who was a teenager when this film was at the height of its popularity as a 'cult movie at late night showings'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.123.126.45 (talk) 06:48, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
I made the edit, removing the following: "and as Grand Wizard in the made-for-TV movie The Worst Witch (1986)". Happy to restore it if any basis for the claim can be demonstrated. Salon Essahj (talk) 22:58, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
- The film does have a loyal little cult(ish) following (but then, so does just about every live-action film he's been in, simply because he's been in it). Regardless, claims like this (about any film) really should have at least one reliable source. I haven't checked to see if there is even one in this article to substantiate the claim that Rocky Horror is a "cult" film (although we all know that it is). Anyone interested in giving this article an upgrade (or at least portions of it) could probably get a jump-start by simply checking the references on The Rocky Horror Show and The Rocky Horror Picture Show articles. I'd do it myself, but I'm juggling several things right now and don't have the time to give this article everything it needs. --- Crakkerjakk (talk) 12:37, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
[edit]There is no indication that he is actually the voice of DIO, I checked IMDB and did not find anything regarding this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 17.27.196.151 (talk) 17:28, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- You're correct. Someone who voices Dio Brando in a YouTube-based abridged parody series uses a Tim Curry impersonation for the voice, and falsely claiming he's been cast for the dub has become a running joke associated with this, including on at least one JoJo's Bizarre Adventure wiki and - as you can see - Wikipedia. - Vianello (Talk) 02:03, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Omitting Voice actor/voice artist
[edit]@Cristabel0: I don't know why you remove the voice artist for Tim Curry has done both a balance of doing live-action and voice over roles right now? Look at the likes Mark Hamill, Clancy Brown, Alan Tudyk, Lacey Chabert, Mae Whitman, Bobby Moynihan, Kelly Hu, Patrick Warburton, Karen Strassman, among many other actors and actresses they are listed as Actor/actress and voice actor/voice artist because right now these actors I mentioned especially Mark Hamill and Clancy Brown do on-camera acting and voice-over acting just like Tim Curry. Honestly, it just wouldn't make sense to just get rid of "voice artist/voice actor" on the infoboxes or descriptions completely and just ONLY listing it as just actor/actress regardless if you or anyone say voice actor/voice artist is a subset or not, and justifying that that voice artist/voice actor" should be removed and ONLY just list it as ONLY Actor/Actress. If you want to continue being so shrewd saying so otherwise that's your choice but I don't want to continue having to listen to your counterarguments and making the same nonsense that comes from you or those previously about having Voice actor and Actors be one and the same and being a subset. Lastly, here is a discussion I made on the Tara Strong page I made several years ago and recently one for Bobby Moynihan and Alanna Ubach why this has become a wishy-washy debate that gets tiresome and repetitive.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 18:04, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Curry in New York City in 2005

Source for quote about Frank-n-furter accent
[edit]"Originally, Curry rehearsed the character with a German accent and peroxide blond hair, and later, with an American accent. In March 2005, in an interview with Terry Gross of NPR's Fresh Air, he explains that he decided to play Dr. Frank-N-Furter with an English accent after listening to an English woman say, "Do you have a house in town or a house in the country", and decided, "Yes, [Dr. Frank-N-Furter] should sound like the Queen"." - Taken from the article...
There's a video on youtube at G5sTIGLo79g?t=706 (the whole URL is blacklisted by wikipedia...is video not suitable for source citing now? What is more reliable than the actor's voice and face, albeit much younger, on a video?) which is an interview with him from THIRTY YEARS previous (shown soon after the film was released)...and even goes into more detail about where the idea for an English accent came from (Jim Sharman). 2A02:C7F:CEF9:5300:9468:CA1A:4E47:39C0 (talk) 16:28, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
He Starred in More than Two TV Series
[edit]"Although Curry has appeared in numerous television series throughout his career he has only had lead roles in two live-action series: Over the Top, a sitcom that he also produced, and the revival series of Family Affair."

Listed animated roles
[edit]In the section Voice acting, it is stated that "Curry has appeared in such animated television series and films." The next paragraphs down states that they are known for their villainous roles. The paragraph after that is just a list of other still animated roles, which could just be incorporated into the previous paragraphs. Curry was even the main villain in some of the listed movies, like Ferngully where they were Hexxus. It should probably be incorporated into the other paragraphs instead of having multiple. Derpyhoi (talk) 19:55, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- The list of villainous roles lists Auntie Whispers, despite them actively preventing the main characters from being harmed. I vaguely remember them saying something about them eating kids in the beginning of the episode, so it could be that they where planning on killing the main characters, but didn't because they saved their niece.
- I don't remember the series very well because i watched it a long time ago, so i could be wrong. If anybody watched it recently then some confirmation would be fine.
- It could also be that it doesn't matter all that much because this is the Tim Curry Wikipedia page, and not the over the Over the Garden Walls Wikpedia page. Derpyhoi (talk) 14:35, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
